About Me

Jordin (Formerly Grace)

In 3rd grade, I fell head over heels for snakes when a classmate brought his adorable pet ball python to show and tell. As a kid, I loved visiting the pet store, but unfortunately, my parents, who are from Brazil, were a bit fearful of snakes, so I never got the chance to hold one.

During my time in Brazil from ages 9 to 15, life was an adventure with a big backyard filled with chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks, roosters, cats, dogs, goats, a rabbit, and more animals than I can probably recall – just no snakes. Amidst these exciting experiences, I also started an environmental conservation group. We did our part to help local animals and took care of their habitats near the beautiful beaches.

Nowadays, I’m thrilled to share my love for these captivating creatures with others. My journey has been quite an adventure, and I hope to bring joy and understanding to everyone I meet, appreciating all living beings, no matter their size.

About Me

The Transformative Power
of Holding a Snake

The first time I held a snake was when my ex-husband grabbed a wild garter snake from a field and put it in my hand. The whole world stopped. The garter snake didn’t bite me or musk on me; it just breathed heavily and sat in my hand. My life had changed inextricably as I realized snakes are beautifully misunderstood creatures. After that, I went to the reptile store about once per week and held all the snakes. I learned everything I could about their care, but it wasn’t until a couple of years later that I finally bought my first snake. His name was Axle, and he was a hognose snake. One snake turned into four after several months, and I started a YouTube channel, Snakeful Grace, where I talk about how to take care of them and show silly videos of them noodling around. My most popular video got 75k views, and it’s just a video of my baby snake exploring! I started studying biology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and I had just landed a dream job as an intern biologist at the Springs Preserve, which is like a small zoo/museum. Then COVID hit. The Springs Preserve shut down, my internship evaporated, and my classes all turned online. It was really hard to focus during online classes, and I tail-spun for a little while.

About Me

My First Expo

I was eventually invited to my first reptile expo, the Wasatch Reptile Expo in Salt Lake City, because I sold silly tee-shirts on my merch website. The organizers of the expo saw that I also breed hognose snakes and encouraged me to bring them too. I had an amazing turnout that weekend and met so many amazing people.

About Me

Spreading Joy and Knowledge

Over the next couple of years, I started traveling all over the US, doing shows almost every single weekend, driving from Las Vegas to California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Arizona, Texas, and sometimes Missouri, Illinois, and Georgia! I still see myself as more of an educator than a business owner. I love showing people who are afraid of snakes that they are actually beautiful and misunderstood creatures. The best part of my job is sharing my joy with kids, families, and people getting into the hobby. Hognoses have the funniest attitudes and a huge variety of colors. Some people just want a silly pet, while others geek out on genetics and breeding. Every weekend, I get to meet new people and catch up with my regulars in a different city. The travel can get pretty exhausting, but the people and the snakes are literally what give me life.
